The Smugglers’ League have crossed the Devil’s Shroud! This mob of miscreants have a keen eye for the finer things in life, and of course the light fingers needed to acquire them from under the original owner’s nose.

The exact nature of their business on the Sea of Thieves is a closely guarded secret, but they’ve got some work for pirates who are looking to make a little extra gold while fighting off rival crews along the way. So if you want to get a foot in the door with the Smugglers, start by searching for their Hideouts...

Uncover the Mystery

Smugglers are, unsurprisingly, a tight-lipped bunch, but surely you can unearth some clues regarding their plans somewhere across the seas. Maybe a pirate with a keen eye and inquisitive nature could get to the bottom of their machinations...

Smugglers’ Hideouts

When you’re operating off the books, it wouldn’t do to be seen around the Outposts. Instead, The Smugglers’ League contacts have settled down in hidden Hideouts across the map, protected by concealed traps that you’ll need to avoid (or even use against your rivals) to ensure a safe delivery.

Smuggle Contraband

With the League still getting to grips with life on the Sea of Thieves, they’re in need of a hand to get their cargo where it needs to be. Available in High Seas, Smugglers’ Route Runs can be attempted from your Quest Table and take place along a golden route which will change each Season – a route that's also marked on other ships’ Map Tables, raising the challenge of reaching your destination with all cargo intact.

Elsewhere, finding a Smuggler-branded Message in a Bottle also offers the opportunity to take on a Smugglers’ Run. These emergent Voyages can propose a variety of routes with even more exotic cargo, but all focus on sneaking precious, fragile wares from one Smugglers’ Hideout to another.

Clandestine Cargo

Rather than standard treasure chests and skulls, The Smugglers’ League seek rarer kinds of loot from Fine Art and high-value rum to extremely potent Black Powder Barrels! Get your hands on these and you’ll need to handle them with care: rum bottles will shatter if damaged, and while Black Powder Barrels can withstand a little punishment, their detonation packs more of a punch than any other explosive on the waves.

An Evolving Sandbox

Hideouts aren’t the only mark of the League’s arrival. Smugglers’ Shipwrecks can be found dotting the waves this Season, loaded with rare and desirable cargo that’s well worth a detour to salvage. Roving Skeleton Ships have already been out there claiming some of this cargo, and scattered items can also be found washed up on shorelines, provided another keen-eyed crew doesn’t find them first!

New Seasonal Rewards

A new Season means a brand new set of rewards, unlocked by climbing through 100 levels of Renown! Earn cosmetics, gold, Doubloons and even Ancient Coins as you rise through the ranks by living the pirate life.

About the Game

Sea of Thieves offers the essential pirate experience, from sailing and fighting to exploring and looting – everything you need to live the pirate life and become a legend in your own right. With no set roles, you have complete freedom to approach the world, and other players, however you choose.

Whether you’re voyaging as a group or sailing solo, you’re bound to encounter other crews in this shared world adventure – but will they be friends or foes, and how will you respond?

Explore a vast open world filled with unspoiled islands and underwater kingdoms. Take on quests to hunt for lost loot, forge a reputation with the Trading Companies and battle foes from Phantoms and Ocean Crawlers to Megalodons and the mighty Kraken. Try your hand at fishing, make maps to your own buried treasure or choose from hundreds of other optional goals and side-quests!

A Game That’s Always Growing

With each Season bringing in new game features every three months alongside regular in-game Events, Sea of Thieves is a service-based game that’s still growing and evolving.
